Esquire Magazine London Valentines Day Restaurant

Food comes courtesy of chef Alfonso Lillo Fas, a Spanish Masterchef finalist who trained at El Bulli, and his menu is loaded with desirable, meaty dishes – delicious slivers of beef carpaccio, a superb veal chop, slow-cooked Iberian pork shoulder and a wonderfully-seasoned steak tartare prepared at your table, old-school style.

Another week, another new opening in Marylebone, which seems to be giving Mayfair a run for the money in the chic restaurant game these days. The Cavendish, just a stone’s throw from Marylebone Lane, espouses many of the same traits that turned the Chiltern Firehouse into the titan that it is. Riddle

“Inside, a hustle of guests flurried around the long, steel bar which acted as something of a stage to the charming mixologists who performed with humour and skill. Whether you are dining or just having a quick drink, the staff here make you feel like you are the most important person in the room.”…

Marylebone

“Within the area The Cavendish prices itself towards the higher end of the market – expect to pay around £15 for a starter and £25 for a main. However, The Cavendish is my kind of restaurant and one that can actually be hard to find in London – the service and dining experience you would expect from one of the best established restaurants in our city, yet with a menu that is diverse but not overcomplicated.”…

“To start, I ordered the Scallops with Smoked Cauliflower Purée, served with Pickled Baby Courgette and Fig Balsamic. The scallops were cooked perfectly – not too chewy, and the mix of ingredients really worked well together. My companion opted for the Yellowfin Tuna Tartar, which was given a kick by the accompanying Wasabi, which she loved.”…
